1899 Trailer
I’m still trying to wrap my brain around the events that happened in Dark. Now the creators have a new mind-bending show coming to Netflix. Netflix released the official trailer for 1899 and it looks hauntingly stunning. Even the poster is reminiscent of the Dark poster revealing that the show is more than what it seems.
What is 1899 About?
In the trailer, a group of immigrants are traveling from Europe to New York for a better life. During their journey, the captain receive a message from a ship that’s been missing, the Prometheus. Against the wishes of the passengers, the captain decides to answer the distress signal. They find the ship adrift at sea. However, there’s something wrong. There are no passengers aboard. At this point, strange things begin to happen. A strange symbols begins to appear everywhere and people begin gathering arms. The ghost ship seems to have cursed the passengers ship. To make matter worse, there’s a giant sky tunnel the ship seems to be sucked into.
While watching the trailer, I was left with more questions than answers. Why was the ship empty? What’s with the strange symbol? Is there a cult leader in the midst of the passengers? There’s no doubt that 1899 will be as trippy as Dark. I’m jealous. Some viewers had a chance to see the first two episodes at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. According to Netflix “audiences were glued to their seats wanting to see more.”

With the main characters of the show being immigrants, the show boasts a diverse cast. It is set to be a multi-language series with characters speaking in their native language.
