Dona Isadir is living in an apartment in Cachambi, in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro when the pandemic starts. She decides to rent out her apartment and move closer to her family. However, her family has no idea.

Without any warning Dona moves in the mansion owned by her son, Carlos, and daughter-in-law, Alice, in Barra de Tijuca. The sassy, intrusive mother-in-law is convinced that her soon can do better than his current wife.

Her grandchildren, Jonas and Márcia are caught in the crossfire. While the family’s longtime employee, Marinez, has a front-row seat to all the action. And we haven’t even mentioned the cookouts and parties with Dona’s old friends from Cachambi. Who know what other chaos will ensue.

Smother-in-Law is the first multi-camera Brazilian sitcom on Netflix. The show debuts on Netflix on April 14, 2022. With then 25-mines episodes, it is produced by Os Suburbanos Produções for Netflix and directed by Alex Cabral.

The cast includes Internet-famous names like Isaías, cast as a reporter, and Vittor Fernando, who plays a ride-share driver. Singers Mumuzinho, Jojo Maronttinni and Pepita also appear. Buchecha plays a passenger. Danielle Winits appears as a TV personality, while Eliana Pittman portrays Alice’s mother. Thaíssa Carvalho is Carlos’s ex-girlfriend, a personal trainer who causes chaos as she helps Dona Isadir with her plans to get rid of her daughter-in-law.
