About Firestarter
Firestarter is the latest adaptation of the Stephen King book of the same name. The movie will be released in theaters as well as on Peacock the same day. This movie follows Charlie (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), a young girl with pyrokinetic superpowers.
The original 1984 Firestarter movie starred Drew Barrymore as Charlie and her dad, Andrew (David Keith). Before Charlie was born, her parents sign up for an experimental drug test that gives them telepathy and telekinesis and Charlie pyrokinesis. When their daughter develops her powers, a government agency known as “The Shop” tries to capture her. The new adaptation will follow a similar line of events.
For more than a decade, Charlie’s parents Andy (Zac Efron) and Vicky (Sydney Lemmon) have been on the run. They are being pursued by a government agency that wants to harness Charlie’s power and develop it for a weapon of mass destruction.
Fueled by her emotions, Andy teaches his daughter how to defuse her powers to help hide them from the world. But as Charlie gets older, it becomes harder and harder for her to control. Soon an incident reveals their location and a mysterious operative (Michael Greyeyes) sets out to catch her once and for all.
Although her parents do everything they can to fight off the shadowy agency, Charlie realizes she much better protecting the family.
