Based on a true story, Father Stu is an uplifting drama about a lost soul who finds his purpose in the most unexpected place. Stuart Long (Mark Wahlberg) suffers an injury that ends is amateur boxing career. As a supermarket clerk in Los Angeles, he meets a Catholic Sunday school teacher, Carmen (Teresa Ruiz). Trying to impress her, he starts going to church. But she is immune to his bad boy charm.
But this brings up past feelings. He survived a motorcycle accident and wonder if this is a second chance for him to help others find their way. So Stu begins his journey to pursue his vocation to become a Catholic priest.
Despite the skepticism of church officials and his estranged parents (Mel Gibson and Jack Weaver), he continues on. As he pursues his vocation, he not only inspires those closet to them, but countless others along the way.
The movie was written and directed by Rosalind Ross. It is Ross’s feature directorial debut. Father Stu stars Academy Award Nominee® Mark Wahlberg who also serves as a producer of the film.
