Hacks is a critically-acclaimed comedy on HBO Max. The show centers around Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) and Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder). Deborah is a legendary stand-up comedienne who desperately needs to maintain relevance. She is facing losing performance dates if she can’t pull in the crowds.

Deborah’s team decide to provide her some help. They hire Ava to help spruce up Deborah’s act. Ava is a down on her luck comedy writer who is unable to find work because of an insensitive tweet. Deborah feels she doesn’t nee help, but reluctantly accepts. When the pair meets, they do not like each other. But due to the circumstances, they must work together.

The tension between the two trying to one up each other makes for a ton of laughs. The pair eventually begin to realize that are not so different from each other.

Season two picks up with their complicated relationship. After being a Las Vegas institution for so long, Deborah decides to go on tour. Unfortunately, their new relationship is tested when an angry email Ava sent previously is revealed. In season one, Ava upset with Deborah sends an email to TV producers looking for dirt on Deborah.

But when their relationship she tried to stop the email from circulating with no success. This could unravel everything that have worked on.

Hacks received 15 Emmy® nominations and won 3 Emmys® for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. In addition, Jean Smart won SAG Awards® and Critics Choice Awards winner for her performance in season one.
