About Resident Evil

Resident Evil is a new series on Netflix based on the video game franchise of the same name. The series is set in the year 2036. That’s 14 years after a deadly virus, Joy, caused a global apocalypse. It centers on Jade Wesker (Ella Balinska).

When Jade was fourteen, she and her sister Billie moved to New Raccoon City with their family. They soon realize that the town is more than it seems. It seems that the town and their father may be concealing dark secrets that could destroy the world.

Cut to ten years later. There are less than fifteen million people left on Earth. And there are more than six billion blood-thirty infected creatures infected by the T-virus that have overrun the world. Jade reflects on her time in New Raccoon City, her father’s connections to the Umbrella Corporation and what happened to her sister. Now she’s fighting for survival, a corrupt corporation and insane monsters.

Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time. I’m incredibly excited to tell a new chapter in this amazing story and bring the first ever Resident Evil series to Netflix members around the world. For every type of Resident Evil fan, including those joining us for the first time, the series will be complete with a lot of old friends, and some things (bloodthirsty, insane things) people have never seen before.

It is one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time with more than 100 million games sold worldwide. The game has been developed into live action movies, animated movies, television series, comic books, novel, audio dramas and other merchandise.

The six movie franchise produced by Constantin Film as grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide. This made it the most successful movie franchise based on a video game.
