Stephen King’s “It” is set to return as a prequel on HBO Max. The new series will be set in the 1960s with the title, “Welcome to Derry”. This is 20 years before the events of It: Chapter One. And over 40 years before the events of It: Chapter Two.
The director of both films, Andy Muschiette, will return to executive produce the series along with his sister, Barbara Muschietti. Jason Fuchs will return as both writer and executive producer. Since the series is expected to include the origins of Pennywise the Dancing Clown, there is no word of Bill Skarsgärd coming back yet.
They Synopsis
The series is also expected to cover the history of Derry. It will explore the mysterious origins of how Derry was cursed and the events that led to the events of It: Chapter One. There were many Easter eggs in It: Chapter Two so maybe we’ll see some of the events in the Derry Herald. Such events include the Kitchener Ironworks explosion, the mob shooting of the Bradley Gand and the burning of the Black Spot Night Club.
There is not release date yet.
It: Chapter One
Based on Stephen King’s book, It, It: Chapter One is the first half of the book. The film is set in the town of Derry where local kids are disappearing one by one. A group of seven kids are united by horrifying encounters with an evil clown. They dub themselves, The Losers Club. They discover the clown appears every 27 years to feed on the children of Derry. Before he resumes his hibernation, the group tries to defeat the evil clown. They vow to kill him when he returns from his slumber.
It: Chapter Two
Twenty-seven years after the Losers Club defeated Pennywise, he has returned. Now adults, The Losers have gone their separate ways. They must each conquer their deepest fears to defeat Pennywise once and for all.
