Today, Netflix released the trailer for Victim/Suspect. The documentary delves into how law enforcement across the US indicts victims of sexual assault.
Investigative journalist Rae de Leon travels nationwide to uncover and examine the shocking pattern. Young women who shared with the police that they’ve been sexually assaulted. Instead of finding justice, they are charged with the crime of making a false report. Some have even been imprisoned by the system that is supposed to protect them.
As we can see from the Victim/Suspect trailer, the documentary features video and audio footage of police interrogations, firsthand accounts and interviews from legal experts. This evidence provides a better sense of where the flaws lie in the system and how these young survivors turn into accused criminals.
