About Men
Men is a folk horror movie written and directed by Alex Garland. It’s about a young woman, Harper (Jessie Buckley) who retreats alone to an estate in the English countryside. She is looking for a place to heal after a traumatic experience with her husband, James (Paapa Essiedu).
The home’s caretaker, Geoffrey (Rory Kinnear) seems a little bit off. While at an estate and in the nearby town, she encounters various men. Among them are a teenage boy, a local policeman, a pub owner, a vicar and a naked man in the woods. But there’s something unusual about all of them. They all seem to be the same man, Geoffrey.
Does she realize that all the men look the same? The more men she encounters, the more uncanny and alarming the occurrences become. What begins as a dread, turns into a nightmare, inhabited by her darkest memories and fears. But are they human or something else?
Early reviews of Men says the movie has some shocks and the visions are all too realistically gruesome. So expect to be scared.
