We’ve listed the first eight of the most anticipated new shows of October 2022 debuting the first have of the month. Not it’s time for the shows that will premiere the second half of October.
As with the list, most of the promising shows this fall will come from streaming services. But one network has an ace up their sleeve. Check out part two of our list.
The Winchesters
Supernatural has been a cult favorite since it first debuted on The CW in 2005. We have seen the adventures of Sam and Dean and learned about their parents along the way. Now, the long awaited prequel, The Winchesters, will premiere on October 11, 2022. In the new series, Dean will narrate the story of how his parents met and how they started fighting monsters. While we know how the story will go, The CW is doing what is does best expanding the universe.
Chainsaw Man
If there is one anime to watch this fall, it’s Chainsaw Man. The hype for this manga has been building for years. And if the series is anything like the trailer, expect a wild ride. The show is set in a time where Devils are born out of peoples fears giving them power based on those fears. A teenage boy makes a deal with a devil and is brought back to life with chainsaws for hands to hunt other devils. Premiering on Crunchyroll on October 11, 2022.
Shantaram
Shantaram is a drama from Apple TV+ is based on the novel by Gregory David Roberts. It follows an Australian criminal who escapes jail and flees to India. While there, Lin, Charlie Hunnam, is on a journey of redemption. He works as a medic for the city’s less fortunate finding love and connection. Apple TV+ is no stranger to drama. They have high expectations for quality and storytelling. The show premiere October 14, 2022.
High School
High School is based on the memoir of the same name and the accompanying album, Hey, I’m Just Like You by Canadian pop duo Tegan and Sara Quinn. It follows the twin sisters as they navigate their life, sexuality and music in their high school years. The show stars TikTokers and actual twin sisters Raily and Seazynn Gilliland. Whether you are familiar with the duo or not, you’ll enjoy this show. It premieres on Amazon Freevee on October 14, 2022.
From Scratch
The new series, From Scratch, on Netflix is based on the life experiences of author Tembi Locke. Zoe Saldaña plays Amahle “Amy” Wheeler. Amy meets the man of her dreams in Florence, Italy while studying abroad. They come back to the United States to build a life together. The two have a daughter and life is good until her husband dies from an unexpected illness. She must push through grief so she can raise her daughter. The story of love, death, grief and hope premieres on Netflix on October 21, 2022.
The Peripheral
The Peripheral is a sci-fi drama coming to Prime Video. Created by the creators of Westworld, they bring William Gibson’s book to life. The series follows a woman trying to hold things together in personal life with an unusual job. While working at a local 3D printing shop, Flynne Fisher, takes a second job. He plays VR games for the rich. She soon realizes that she’s not in virtual reality, it’s real. She must discover how both worlds connected and for what purpose. The show premieres on Prime Video on October 21, 2022.
Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities
Oscar-winning filmmaker, Guillermo del Toro is back in the studios. The has created an eight-episode anthology series just in time for Halloween. The series is based on his short story of the same name. With the series, Guillermo plans to challenge the traditional notions of classic horror movies. Expect stunning, spine-tingling horror that is sure to scare. Cabinet of Curiosities premieres on Netflix on October 25, 2022.
