Christopher Nolan’s epic storytelling comes to life again with the release of the highly anticipated Oppenheimer trailer. From Tenet, Dunkirk, Interstellar, Inception and The Dark Knight trilogy, he is a master storyteller. They have earned over $5 billion globally, was awarded 11 Oscars and 36 nominations, including two Best Picture nominations.
Nolan has a knack for taking you on a journey and immersing you in the movie. Oppenheimer will be no exception. Due to this, people have been waiting for a glimpse of the movie since the teaser was first released. Seeing that, Universal Pictures has been streaming a live video of the teaser since. This is a whole year before the release of the film. With the release of the Oppenheimer trailer, we are thrust into the paradox. Should you create something that could destroy the world in order to save it?
Oppenheimer is based on J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy), a theoretical physicist who is credited to be the “father of the atomic bomb.” His wife, biologist and botanist Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer (Emily Blunt), joins him at the Manhattan Project. Under the direction of General Leslie Groves Jr. (Matt Damon) and Lewis Strauss (Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr.), the trio are tasked with creating a weapon that could end World War II.
In the trailer, we get a better look at the cast and cinematography of the film. The black and white courtroom shots along with the stark contrast of the vibrant color shots could be an indication of everyone in the present retelling the past. We’ll know more when the movie arrives in theaters later this year.
