About Pacific Rim: The Black
Pacific Rim: The Black is set in the same universe as the 2013 movie Pacific Rim. However, the events in the series is an alternate version of events from Pacific Rim: Uprising.
A race of monsters call Kaiju have arisen from the Pacific Rim and overrun Australia. The Pan Pacific Defense Corps built gigantic armed robots call Jaegers to fight back. But the plan fails and the PPDC initiate Operation Blackout. People from Kaiju compromised areas are evacuated, leaving isolated pockets of survivors. The PPDC order the Jaegers to be destroyed or buried.
Teenage siblings, Taylor and Hayley, are left behind by their parents who leave to combat the Kaiju, but never return. Five years later, they discover a buried PPDC base where they find and activate the Mark-3 Jaeger, Atlas Destroyer.
The activation draws the attention of a Category IV Kaiju (Copperhead). It destroys the safe haven and kills the survivor the siblings lived with. With no other option, they decide to use the robot to find their parents. They not only have to deal with Kaiji, they must deal with other survivors fighting to survive.
While searching for a power cell, Taylor and Hayley meet a boy trapped in the basement of a PPDC Recruitment Center. They save the boy and encounter a Copperhead and canine Kaiju. While there, they meet Shane and Mei. Shane mentions their encounter with “The Sisters.” This leads to a showdown with Copperhead.
During the fight, the boy transforms into a huge blue-veined humanoid Kaiju (Apex) and attacks Copperhead. Apex gets buried under rubble and Atlas swoops in to injure Copperhead. Meanwhile, Hayley un-jams a nuclear missile and uses it to destroy Copperhead. Taylor then realizes that the Kaiju can be made to look like humans.
In the final scenes on a rooftop above, “The Sisters” appear and declare that the Kaiju Messiah has come.
