The Boogeyman Trailer
First let me say, I am a huge Stephen King fan. Due to that, I was thrilled when I heard about a new adaptation of Children of the Corn coming to theaters later this year. To my surprise, 20th Century Studios dropped the trailer for The Boogeyman.
The story of The Boogeyman is not new. Before Stephen King published his short story in Night Shift, it was published in a 1973 issue of Cavalier magazine. Due to the success of King’s previous adaptations, It and Dr. Sleep, the studios began developing the movie for Hulu. They soon began to rethink their release strategy after strong test screenings in December. Couple that with the strong box office performances from M3GAN, The Menu and Barbarian. It seems that after the pandemic, horror and superheroes have been drawing audiences to theaters.
What is the movie about?
The movie centers around a 16 year old, Sadie Harper, and her younger sister, Sawyer. They have a strained relationship with their father after the death of their mother. It is believed she was the target of a supernatural being that preys on suffering. The family encounters the entity when their father, a psychologist, tries to help a desperate patient in their home. Feeding on their fear, strange things begin to happen. Per The Boogeyman trailer, “the thing that comes for your children when you’re not paying attention.”
The Boogeyman will be released exclusively in theaters on June 2, 2023. Be sure to see our list of other movies to be released in theaters soon.
