About The Garcias

The Garcias is a sequel of the Nickelodeon hit show, The Brothers Garcia. It ran for four season from 2000 to 2003. It was a multi-award winning series for its non stereotypical portrayal of a family that just happened to be Latino.

In the new series is 15 years after The Brothers Garcia. The Garcia kids are all grown up and have children of their own. The extended family travel to Riviera Maya in Mexico to learn what it really takes to be in a “familia.”

The Brothers Garcia follows Larry Garcia’s retelling of his teenage years as the youngest son in the Garcia family. Larry recounts his life alongside George, Carlos, and Lorena (his two brothers and fraternal twin sister, respectively). The stories involve how they dealt with everyday life living in San Antonio and how he tries to find his sense of individuality.

The original cast members from The Brothers Garcia return for the 10-episode reboot. Each will play older versions of themselves.

We want audiences to see that we are totally American and part of the ‘new mainstream.’ here are no themes of narcos, border walls, gang bangers or maids anywhere in this series – a fact that we are very proud of and hope that Hollywood will follow suit. We are extremely proud of the fact that this show will easily achieve 90+% positive Latino inclusion both in front of and behind the camera.

Why A Reboot?

There continues to be a lack of shows that portray Latinos with a sense of normalcy. The mission behind The Garcias is to show the aspirational family-centric of the Latino community and to share these principles to entertain, educate and inspire.

Since The Brothers Garcia received numerous awards, positive reviews and lots of publicity, it was an easy choice. The show had 50 episodes and aired in over 40 countries in multiple languages. It is only a handful of shows that sheds a positive light on a Latino family.
