About The Great Pottery Throw Down

The Great Pottery Throw Down is a British reality competition. It is a contest in the style of The Great British Bake Off, but with pottery. Contestants must create different types of home pottery in their quest to become the Top Potter.

The was canceled after 2 seasons by the BBC in 2018. After being canceled, the show returned in January 2020 with a new set of judges. In July 2022, HBO Max secured the rights to distribute the show in the United States. It premiered on September 17, 2020.

The show has a loyal viewership that tunes in week after week to watch amateur potters transforms lumps of clay into tea sets, chimneys, clocks and toilets.

Season five has already aired on British television, so if you want to avoid spoilers avoid internet surfing. The 10 episode show will premiere on HBO Max on April 14, 2022.

The Great Pottery Throw Down season 5 trailer shows each contestant within a different challenge. They only have a limited amount of time to sculpt something beautiful out of a piece of clay. Sometimes they have as little as 90 minutes. They will be judged by master potter, Keith Brymer Jones and ceramics expert, Richard Miller. You can also see a sampling of items the contestants will produce throughout the season.

About Season 5

Season 5 will include 12 potters who will compete to be the Top Potter. They will create everything from a children’s crockery set to a trio of garden gnomes. Each episode is divided into two parts. There will be main and throw down challenge. Other episodes have contestants sculpting a cheese set, a sink Raku vases and a garden water feature.
