The Last Voyage of the Demeter Trailer
The Last Voyage of the Demeter trailer kicks off another adaptation of Bram Stoker’s classic 1897 novel, Dracula, releasing in theaters later this year. It’s apart of Universal Studios Dark Universe reimagining along with The Invisible Man and 2017’s The Mummy.
A quick history, Universal set in works to reimagine the monster movies that were their claim to fame. They created a series of horror films between the 1930s and 1950s. Films such as Dracula, The Invisible Man, The Bride of Frankenstein and The Wolf Man were huge hits for the studios. Soon the genre became oversaturated with cooky B-movies.
In recent years, Universal brought the franchise back to life with 2014’s Dracula Untold. Although sales weren’t good they moved ahead with their plan. Fast forward to today, the character gets a fresh take.
As we can see from The Last Voyage of the Demeter trailer, the creature is reminiscent of Nasferatu and monsters of old. The evolution of him becoming the gargoyle like creature completely terrifies the crew.
It is yet another adaptation of Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula, made famous by the 1992’s Dracula. In relation to the film, the story takes place when Dracula leaves Russia. The Demeter is the ship that transports him to England.
As a merchant ship, they carry fifty unmarked wooden crates from Carpathia to London. Soon strange events begin to befall the group. The crew begins to disappear one by one and the captain is convinced there is an evil force on the ship.
As the presence reveals itself, the crew are in a battle to survive the ocean voyage. But with each terrifying night, they begin to wonder if they will make it to London alive. Ah, the makings of a great monster story. Watch as the legend of Dracula is born in The Last Voyage of the Demeter only in theaters August 11, 2023.
