The Little Mermaid Teaser

The long anticipated Little Mermaid teaser was released today at D23. This live-action re-imaging of Disney’s animated movie comes to theaters May 26, 2023. The teaser shows a glimpse of Arial in a shipwreck with a short snippet of the iconic song, “Part of Your World.”

About The Little Marmaid

The original animated movie debuted in theaters in 1989. It won the Academy Award for Original Score and and Original Song (“Under the Sea”). It is one of the most celebrated animated films of all time.

The Little Mermaid is a story about a sixteen-year-old mermaid with a thirst for adventure. She is the youngest of King Triton’s daughters and longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea. With her best friend, Flounder, she collects human artifacts and knowledge of human culture. Knowing how rebellious his teenage daughter is, King Triton instructs head maestro, Sebastian, to watch out for Ariel.

Once day while visiting the surface, Ariel meets and falls for the dashing Prince Eric. Even though it is forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel follows her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula. This gives Ariel the chance to experience life on land as a human. This places her and her father’s crown in jeopardy.

The Cast

Ariel – Ariel is the spirited young mermaid who longs to live in the human world. She is the seventh born daughter of King Triton and the late Queen Athena.

Sebastian – Sebastian is a crab who is the servant of King Triton. He is tasked with keeping an eye on the rambunctious Ariel in her travels to the human world.

King Triton – King Triton is the ruler of Atlantica. He has a distaste for humans which strains his relationship with his daughter Ariel.

Flounder – Flounder is Ariel’s best fish friend. He is a blue and yellow tropical fish who scares easily.

Ursula – Ursula is the main antagonist. Ariel makes a deal with her to become human for three days so she can spend time with Prince Eric.

Prince Eric – Prince Eric is a human prince. He is rescued by Ariel when he almost drowns in a storm at sea.

Scuttle – Scuttle is a seagull and friend of Ariel. He presents himself as the expert on human objects. He refers to a fork as a “dinglehopper” and a pipe as a “snarfblatt.”
