The Mean One Trailer
What if the Grinch’s heart grew three times too small instead of three times too big? The new Christmas-themed horror film, The Mean One, answers that question. It is the latest parody from XYZ Productions following Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey. Their next project is a horror adaptation of Bambi, Bambi: The Reckoning, currently in production. With only days before it hits theaters, the producers released The Mean One trailer.
What is The Mean One About?
The Mean One is based on the live-action movie, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. In it Jim Carrey played the Grinch based on the Dr. Seuss children’s book of the same name. Even though it was the fifth grossing film of 2000, it doesn’t hold a candle to the 1966 animated version. As a huge fan, I watch it every year during the holiday season.
Due to the fact The Mean One is an unauthorized parody, the production company was unable to use “The Grinch name”. Instead, the film refers to him as “The Mean One.” Even the name of the town has been changed. It takes place in a small town called Newville. Each holiday season, the green monster terrorizes the citizens by killing someone in a red Santa suit. As we can see from the trailer, “The Mean One” looks like a demonic version of Jim Carrey’s “The Grinch.” He is a blood thirsty creature who can’t be reformed by puppy eyes and the holiday spirit. This creature must be stopped. However this year, someone plans on doing just that. That someone is Cindy You-Know-Who. She was orphaned over 20 years ago, when “The Mean One” killed her parents on Christmas. Now she is back to “roast this beast.”
“The Mean One” is played by David Howard Thornton. Previously, he was cast as “The Grinch” in How the Grinch Stole Christmas: The Musical. The role of Cindy You-Know-Who will be played by Krystle Martin. She is best know as a stunt performer and coordinator in the Shudder original film, They Live in the Gray.
