The Mother Trailer
In recent years, Netflix has cultivated their library with action movies starring A-list actors. This is certainly true with the release of The Mother trailer. This is just one of the blockbuster movies they have planned for the summer movie season, including Extraction and They Cloned Tyrone. While the trailer does tell you a lot about what the movie is about, Netflix has provided a synopsis of the plot.
A military-trained assassin comes out of hiding to protect the daughter she’s never met from ruthless criminals gunning for revenge.

Portraying the fierce assassin is Jennifer Lopez. Her character has similar attributes to her Slim Hiller role in Enough. A bad-ass mom hell-bent on protecting her child. Just the kind of movie you want to see right before mother’s day. In The Mother trailer, we see car chases, speeding motorcycles, intense training and all sorts of tactical gear. “She needs protection right now. You saw what was out there. They’re going to keep coming,” she says.
Obviously, being a hired assassin will put your child in a lot of danger. Instead of putting her in danger, Lopez’s character gives her daughter, Zoe (Lucy Paez), up due to her choice of work. But years later, The Mother’s past catches up with her and she must save her daughter.
Alongside Lopez is Joseph Fiennes. He’s the British arms dealer, Adrian Lovell. As her military mentor, he has given her a particular set of skills to defeat anyone that crosses her. Another ally is Jons (Paul Raci). He helps his comrade retire by giving her a new start in Alaska. Rounding out the cast is FBI agent, William Cruise (Omari Hardwick) and Arms dealer, Hector Álvarez (Gael García Bernal).
You can watch the nearly 2-hour movie exclusively on Netflix Mother’s Day weekend on May 12, 2023. Why not make it a double feature and watch Enough, streaming now on Netflix.
